Mali Sunu rhythm basic djembe part: fast-med-slow with click

,

This short “how to play” djembe lesson by Michael Pluznick features the basic Mali Sunu rhythm djembe part in fast, medium and very slow *(breakdown) tempo with a click track so you can see and hear where everything goes against the beat or pulse. The click track plays a triangle hit on the first beat so you always know where you are. This djembe part and rhythm was taught to me in Mali west Africa by my teacher, Mali Djembe Master Drummer Aruna SIdibe & Brulye Doumbia.
The Mali pattern features more of a 4/4 feel then the 6/8 version or style. Please make sure you check here on my blog page for the 6/8 version of Sunu as well as the solo techniques for both versions and dunun (aka dundun, djun djun) parts as well.
