April 2019 World Wide Drum Workshops With Michael Pluznick in Thailand

How To Play Djembe

Michael Pluznick will be traveling the world once again with his unique brand of drumming and sharing rhythms! Michael has been drumming, teaching, studying, touring and performing across the globe for over 40 years and going strong! Please check out his bio here on this webpage for more info and data.

Drumming is for everyone! “no experience needed”.  Although hand drumming is a dedicated, orchestrated musical form in traditional ethnic society with the proper instruction it is easy and very fun to learn, grow and play with. Together we will bond and grow as a drum unit and family of drum friends!

If you have never drummed before and always wanted to, or if you already drum and would like to expand your vocabulary, learn new rhythmic arrangements, drum- songs, fundamental structures and develop your solo techniques now is your chance.

Michael uses a time proven “pyramidical”  method for teaching that makes it easy for anyone and everyone to learn even if you are not a fast learner.

“Anything rhythmically sophisticated or seemingly “complicated” can indeed be broken down and learned easily by completely slowing it down and then reducing it to its simplest parts”. To do this we break down rhythms and build them up one note at a time , bit by bit, step by step. We add things one by one and in no time you can get a seemingly “hard” part that you thought you might not ever be able to learn.

“Michael is a patient and gifted teacher”

He will be in Thailand April 2019!

Please watch here for updates! Times, dates and places may vary and change as the trip progresses.

I will also be posting the costs of classes soon as well (in local currency rates).

Drums are not provided. However, djembe drum rentals are available in most locations at extra cost.

In Thailand we have a variety of professional west african made djembes available for sale as well as less expensive local (Thai) models.

In India the local shops have inexpensive djembes for rent or sale.
