Guinea djembe rhythms “Kuku” solo tech part one rear view and very slow

,

In this video I am playing the popular and social Kuku rhythm from Guinea (Guinee) West Africa where I lived and studied. These are solo techniques I learned from my various teachers in Africa and the USA including Hawaii, California and the east coast as well. A solo technique is a drum pattern or rhythm structure or series of structures or patterns that are played by themself or linked together or chained to make a song with in a song so to speak. In a traditional setting such as an ensemble or African dance class they are usually played by the leader of a drumming ensemble and interact and respond to the dancers moves . This video is part one of what I call section one in my djembe lessons I teach. I am showing a rear over head view at moderate tempo with a click track and then a front view at a slower tempo. Please check back for the rest of the series which I will be posting regularly!
