Conga Drum Course for beginners to advanced players
What is Rumba?
The name Rumba when referred to in the Folkloric traditional style conga drum world refers to a family of rhythms.
The three main rhythms are Yambu, Guaguanco and Rumba Colombia.
These three rhythms are also connected to specific dances and songs that always are done togher.
Yambu is an old person’s couples dance and is played slowly compared to the other two rhythms. Guaguanco is medium tempo and is a couples dance which imitates the rooster courting the hen.
Rumba Colombia is played the fastest and is a mens competitive solo dance and the lyrics are mixed with elements of African language.
